Arken is The Costello Group’s flagship built-in electric fire, combining Scandinavian-inspired styling with a panoramic flame display. It is designed for contemporary media walls and built-in fireplaces, with a choice of two widths: Arken 1500 and Arken 1850.
If you are planning a new media wall, this guide explains what makes Arken distinctive, how the two sizes compare and what to check before ordering.
What makes the Arken electric fire different?
The design centres on a long, low flame picture, dark rear glass and a deep fuel bed with birch- and oak-style decorative logs. These details complement pale woods, stone, soft neutrals and contemporary cabinetry, whether you are planning a Scandinavian-inspired room or a warmer, layered living space.
Arken is a brand of The Costello Group Ltd, sold and supported in the UK. Its Scandinavian-inspired description refers to the design approach.
What is CrystalCore flame technology?
CrystalCore is Arken’s LCD flame platform. The display combines moving flames with dark-screen depth, a smouldering ember effect and optional crackling fire sound. The lighting can be adjusted to change the character of the fire, from a restrained evening glow to a more colourful display.
The current specification lists:
- 16 flame colours and 5 flame brightness levels.
- 9 log-light options and 10 fuel-bed colour options.
- 4 mood settings and 2 downlight colour options.
- A smouldering ember effect and built-in crackling sound.
Arken 1500 or Arken 1850: which size should you choose?
The two models share the same stated height, depth and core features; the principal difference is width. Use the actual appliance dimensions when planning your build, rather than treating the model name as an installation measurement.
| Specification | Arken 1500 | Arken 1850 |
|---|---|---|
| Overall appliance width | 1532mm | 1882mm |
| Overall height | 554mm | 554mm |
| Overall depth | 264mm | 264mm |
| TV-size guide from the product listing | 50–60 inches | 65–75 inches |
| Heat settings | 900W / 2000W | 900W / 2000W |
The TV sizes are a visual planning guide, not a guarantee of compatibility or a clearance specification. Measure your TV’s actual width and height, check its mounting requirements and follow the fire’s model-specific installation drawing before constructing the enclosure.
For help with the overall proportions, read our media-wall sizing guide.
Can Arken be installed as a three-sided fire?
Yes. Arken supports front-facing, corner and three-sided viewing configurations, following the installation instructions. A front-facing layout creates a framed flame picture; a corner or three-sided layout reveals more of the glass and fuel bed.
The right configuration depends on the wall construction, chosen model and room layout. The overall appliance dimensions above are not the required opening dimensions or installation clearances. Confirm the enclosure, ventilation, power supply, TV position and servicing access against the installation guide before starting work.
Can you use the flames without the heat?
Yes. You can enjoy the flame effect without heat, or select 900W or 2000W heating with thermostatic control. The fire also includes open-window detection and a seven-day programmable timer.
This lets you choose whether you want the visual atmosphere alone or additional warmth. Actual electricity use depends on the selected settings, operating time and your tariff.
How do you control Arken?
Arken has a smart app, remote control and touch-button control panel. The app and remote also provide access to the seven-day timer. Follow the supplied app-control manual for setup and supported functions.
What is included with the fire?
The current product listing includes the Arken electric fire, crystal fuel-bed decoration, black chips, vermiculite, a decorative log set, wall switch, mounting brackets, edging strips and fixings, a remote with batteries, power lead, installation guide and app-control manual.
A standalone fire is one component of a media wall. Confirm any cabinetry, TV feature panel, decorative wall panels, TV bracket, electrical work and installation separately against your order.
What does Arken cost?
On 20 October 2026, the listed fire prices are £2,499.99 for Arken 1500 and £2,999.99 for Arken 1850. These are fire prices, not complete installed media-wall quotations. Check the Arken product page for current prices, availability and delivery information before ordering.
What warranty does Arken have?
Arken has a five-year manufacturer’s warranty: years one and two cover parts and labour, and years three to five cover parts only. Registration is required within 60 days of installation; the warranty is not activated automatically. Read the applicable warranty terms and keep your purchase and registration details.
Plan your Arken media wall
Start with the fire model and your measured wall and TV dimensions. Then choose the surrounding finishes, storage and lighting. Our premium wall panels and TV feature panels offer starting points for the wider design; confirm component compatibility before ordering them together.
